I gave up on Spark People a couple of months ago because I just didn't like how I was feeling trying to eat the right things - the whole high carb, low fat thing leaves me reeling and my blood sugars go nuts and then I over eat.
I gave up on South Beach because I would do great for a week and then blow it. Or great for a few days and then blow it. That's a plan that's hard to stick to by yourself. Plus I MISSED carbs... sort of. I wanted a sandwich and not a salad. I wanted to eat fruit - which I figured would be better than not eating ANY fruits or veggies because I hated the veggies.
Now I'm back at Spark and I'm going to give it another go - only on my terms. I'm not following their meal plans. I'm trying to eat more fruits and veggies. Right now it's mostly fruits because I have a hard time with the taste of vegetables - ESPECIALLY green ones. But I make sure that I have half a plate of broccoli/cauliflower/squash/something other than corn or carrots for dinner.
My hardest things are exercise and portion control. I grew up eating a LOT and not being very active. I skipped working out this morning again, but I'm determined to work out this afternoon like I did yesterday - or at least before I go to bed.
I did buy a scale too - and I was discouraged to see that I had gained 9 pounds since the last time I weighed myself (not entered here). It's things like that that make me want to quit and say "what's the point?" but I can't let myself.... gah! Patience is my other problem... I want to be strong NOW! Magically... I know what it feels like to be strong and healthy, but getting back to that is harder as I get older and my time gets eaten up.
I guess the main thing is that I've got to kick myself in the rear and just do it!

I can't stand the SP meal plans. Who eats that stuff? I just use it to enter my own food.
I've been trying to cut back my serving sizes too. I didn't realizing that filling my plate was eating 2 or 3 servings. Yuck.
Don't we all? ;)
I think most of us struggle with the portion control and exercising ... and yes, eating fruit is better than not having any fruits or veggies. fiber is good for you!
