What I have learned

I have been trying to figure out what I should/need to do for exercise, and have been very inspired. To tell you the truth I haven't kept up well on the exercise goal, although I still haven't had any sugar or carbonation. I want to say that I have, but I haven't and that is not okay. I have been looking over and re-reading some of the older posts on here and I notice that we all struggle at some point or another with food or exercise. For me it is more exercise than food. I love most veggies and fruits, and I'm down with whole grains and less meat, in fact my body doesn't handle red meat very well so I stick to pork and poultry.

The biggest problem. . .Exercise.
I thought I liked walking. . .I don't if I have to be in a hurry about it. I would rather walk for an hour at a nice pace than speed myself through the same distance in half the time. The idea of running kind of hurts my body and I know it isn't for me.

I like to swim, but I get a bit lazy about it and would rather have a friend go with me. I should kick that in the butt because I could swim at the University for free. FREE. . .Why can't I get that into my head. . .you can exercise in a pool for FREE.

I have noticed that I am also much weaker than I was in high school. . .I took body conditioning in High School and fell in love with weight training. I love seeing myself progress. At one time I could dead lift 400+lbs and bench 150 ( I love power maxing) Leg press 810. Dang I miss those days. It is thrilling to be able watch yourself improve. I think I need to get back into it. I have been looking for a set of free weights that have at least 300lbs so I can setup in the garage to do it. The other requirement is that I want a squat rack. . .those are sometimes hard to come by at a price that I can afford. Or maybe I just need an exercise buddy to brave the free weights section of the gym with me. (I hate machines). Once again FREE at the university.

I had this idea today that I should look for information on nutrition and exercise on lds.org and providentliving.org. This is a great place to look since I wanted to know what was out there from the church. There is a wealth of information, the part I liked the most? The article on weight training. . .

I am going to begin a program of alternating days swimming and lifting on Monday.
