Todd has a hard time making good choices when we eat out. I've been trying to show him that it's not that hard. We took the boys to Chick-fil-A tonight to play in their toddler area after being cooped up in the apartment all day.
After dinner, Todd grabbed a nutritional information pamphlet and started adding up his meal.
Chargrilled Chicken Club Sandwich - 380 calories, 12g fat
Light Mayonnaise - 40 calories, 4g fat
Honey Roasted BBQ sauce - 60 calories, 5g fat
Honey Roasted Sunflower Kernels - 90 calories, 7g fat
Waffle Fries, medium - 370 calories, 21g fat
Cole Slaw, large - 580 calories, 50g fat
Cookies & Cream shake, large - 700 calories, 33g fat
Total = 2220 calories and 132g fat (37g saturated fat)
Then added up mine.
Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich - 260 calories, 3g fat
Honey Roasted BBQ sauce - 60 calories, 5g fat
Side Salad - 70 calories, 4.5g fat
Ranch Dressing (half packet = 1 serving) - 160 calories, 17g fat
Croutons (info for 1 serving, but only used half) - 60 calories, 2g fat
Diet Coke - 5 calories
Total = 615 calories and 31g fat (7g saturated fat)
True that he did share the fries and shake with Garrett, but still. That's over one full day's worth of calories in one meal. Mine was a little over one third of my daily calorie allowance. I'll probably choose a different salad dressing next time.
It can be done. You just need to choose wisely. I'll probably choose a different salad dressing next time.
I picked up the book "Eat this, Not that" at Target a few weeks ago. It's helped me a lot.

Nice!! It always kills me when the Boy consumes close to 2000 calories in 20 minutes. It's just so not good... fit or not.
Whenever I go to Carl's, I tend to ask for the "lo-carb wrap." Then they put my sandwich in a couple of giant lettuce leaves instead of the big bun. It cuts down on carbs at least. I think I'm going to start cutting out the mayo and crap too. Thanks for sharing!
